After Olivia’s passing, he studied with many other teachers including his father Miguel Lopez, uncle Enrique Lopez, aunt Delicia Arevalo, and even mestizo teachers. She began working in the Peruvian Amazon since 2016, doing both community work and learning about Plant Medicine from many healers, including Onanya Manuela Mahua (Jakon Rate). Around the same time, she began learning the Shipibo language with Professor Pakan Meni. In 2020, after a long term dieta during COVID-19, Macarena received inspiration to partner with Shipibo teachers to bridge the language and culture to the medicine community around the world.
